Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was the most famous leader of the American civil rights movement. A Baptist minister by trade, Dr. King worked for the equal treatment of different races through strictly peaceful means such as marches and protests. He delivered his “I have a dream” speech in 1963, which is widely considered one of the greatest speeches in American history. In 1964, he was awards the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts for equal treatment of races.
