Fidel Castro took control of Cuba in a bloody gorilla war in 1959 and has ruled with an iron fist ever since. Castro is often accused of gross human rights violations, including the execution of thousands of political opponents. Many sanctions have been placed against Cuba by the United States; harshest of all is the banning of delicious Cuban cigars. Castro has tied himself in the past to the communist Soviet Union in their war against good. Castro’s rule is so harsh that thousands flee his country every year in hopes of a better life, or at least a life where a man with a ZZ-Top style beard isn’t their leader. src=

It's a baseless statement, there hasen't been any mass executions in Cuba since the triumph of the revolution (1959). It was bascially an escalation of cold war policy (the race for arms parity, policy/sanctions)rather than a half thought out attempt to have a nuclear war with the U.S - both the U.S and the U.S.S.R were seeking to avoid full blown nuclear warfare, but they were both using scare tactics. so yes, the missiles shouldnt have been in turkey either, and the cuban missile crisis is probably the least extreme instance of castro's evil. although im sure many americans would class it as the worst, as their lives are more important than cubans.tp:
